WTS is currently seeking qualified applicants for year - round Lifeguard positions at the Ashburn Village Sports Pavilion in Ashburn, VA. The Sports Pavilion features a year - round indoor lesiure pool, an outdoor seasonal wading and lesiure pools, and Marina. Positions monitor the activities and ensures the safety of swimmers. Observes and enforces pool rules and regulations. Performs daily custodial duties to ensure a safe and clean aquatic facility. Maintains required aquatic facility records. Flexible schedule available, early mornings, nights, days and weekends. Salary will be based on qualifications.


  • Ensures the safety of all swimmers by implementing preventative measures and minimizing risky and hazardous situations
  • Observes and enforces all pool rules and regulations in a polite and courteous manner
  • Educates publlic regarding facility rules and regulations 
  • Provide quick response and appropriate level training in emergency situation inside the pool, general pool area, and facility
  • Under general directions from the Pool Operator and Head Lifeguard, Lifeguards conduct on - going maintainence including testing pool chemistry, recording pool chemistry accurately and on - time, vacuuming pools, washing down deck and pump room, cleaning stainless steel rails, handrails, overflow gutters, steps, ladders, and other related surfaces
  • Be knowledgeable on all aquatic information and programming
  • Display a professional appearance with appropriate dress/uniform
  • Is on - time and punctual when reporting to work  
  • Ensure the aquatic area is safe, clean and orderly
  • Assits with Special Events 
  • Other duties as assigned


• High School Degree prefered or equivalent level of education and/ or equivalent work expereience
• Valid First Aid, CPR/ AED certication from the American Red Cross 
• Valid Lifeguard certification from the American Red Cross
• Loudon County Certified Pool Operator certificate prefered 

• Membership in Virginia Recreation and Park Society and the National Recreation and Parks Association are beneficial to the position

• 6 - months experience in an aquatic related position prefered
• Effective leadership skills and a strong work ethic
• Excellent customer service skills
• Energetic, enthusiastic and motivational
• Professional manner, discretion, and appearance
• Able to show initiative and make decisions,  must be able to trouble shoot and anticipate problems
• Positive and enthusiastic attitude towards job and facility
• Maintain a character of professionalism and confidence, with a tactful ability to communicate with participants
• Demonstrate the ability to cooperate and work with others
• Demonstrate consistent integrity, dependability, responsibility and be able to meet deadlines 
• Possess effective verbal/written communication and expression.
• Adaptable and flexible under stressful and/or unusual situations.
• Ability to sit/stand for long periods
• Awareness of proper body mechanics to prevent injury
• This position required the ability to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, walk, and talk
• The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Normal work hours varied to include nights, weekends, and holidays
