  • Overview

    The Fitness Manager will be responsible for the daily operations of the facility including: implementing marketing and sales strategic plans; training and scheduling staff; facility management and maintenance; supervising the staff in both the Fitness and Tennis Departments, ensuring the highest levels of guest satisfaction are attained; using the ability to lead and motivate staff to achieve goals and exceed guest expectations; payroll management of hours and budgetary restrictions; event planning and execution; maintaining a Forbes Five-Star facility and service standard; ensure guest satisfaction and returnity survey scores maintain or exceed desired score.

    Responsibilities

    • Ensures the “WTS International Experience” for guests by maintaining the standards set in WTS International Basics to Excellence (BTE), WTS International Mission Statement/Values; Standards and Expectations, and WTS International Brand Standards as well as Forbes Five-Star standards.
    • Adheres to policies of WTS International.
    • Oversees all Fitness and Tennis Professionals as well as tennis operations of the Private Tennis Club, which features 3 professional clay courts.
    • Responsible for financial reporting of both Fitness and Tennis departments, including but not limited to Payroll, P&L, GL, Hotel Invoicing, Variance Reports, Executive Summaries, etc.
    • Is responsible for planning, promoting and executing all Fitness and Tennis events for the Spa.
    • Supervises effective daily operations including opening and closing procedures, facility inspections, cash handling procedures, and general facility maintenance.
    • Reports any current or future concerns to the Director of Operations.
    • Submits all paperwork and financial reporting, including HR and payroll, in accordance with WTS International policy.
    • Develops and maintains accurate facility maintenance procedures and checklists through routine preventative maintenance and repair.  Maintains a preventative maintenance schedule for exercise equipment.
    • Ensures fiscal responsibility through efficient scheduling of department personnel and, when necessary, makes changes to stay within budgetary guidelines.
    • Maintains a monthly inventory of supplies, equipment, and or products and follows purchasing procedures and checkbook guidelines.
    • Writes articles or press releases for the facility, including the monthly Fitness newsletter and updating the website with news, events, etc.
    • Partners with Human Resources Manager to create a team of instructors to meet all aspects of professionalism and service demands.  Assesses all Fitness and Tennis employees’ progress; coaches’ employees, and disciplines, fairly and consistently; conducts annual performance evaluations, and, is responsible to assist with terminating employment.
    • Maintains a fully staffed facility by recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training all staff.
    • Ensures that all staff members are implementing BTE and Forbes Five-Star Standards.
    • Ensures that all staff members consistently maintain Forbes Five Star knowledge through weekly trainings and shop reports.
    • Ensures the staff is fully knowledgeable on the use and benefits of services, products, programs, and activities by conducting regularly scheduled staff meetings and training workshops.
    • Participates in Manager on Duty (MOD) program.
    • Provides excellent customer service and monitors guest feedback through the use of comment cards, returnity surveys, guest conversations, and other customer care techniques.  Supervises and follows up on guest requests and comments in a timely and proactive manner.
    • Ensures facility is only accessed by actual members and/or guests, and that it is safe and secure at all times.
    • Designs, with the use of approved templates, forms, flyers, and promotional materials to be utilized in daily facility operations.
    • Sets monthly goals for personal training revenue and markets, promotes, sells, and tracks personal training.
    • Ensures all employees are current in first aid and CPR and have all required approved fitness certifications.
    • Maintains quality control of all programs – WTS International systems, Personal Training, and Group Exercise.
    • Ensures all guest fees and class fees for both Tennis and Fitness are correctly charged.
    • Prepares any incident or accident reports and forwards them to Spa Human Resources Manager for processing to WTS International corporate office.
    • Educates the members and/or guests on fitness-related topics as applicable.
    • Motivates members and guests to meet the goals of the program.
    • Ensures that a safe and healthy environment exists for exercising.
    • Keeps up-to-date on safety and fitness trends.
    • Has complete knowledge of all fitness services and Tennis Programming presently offered.
    • Schedules and conducts staff meetings and professional training.
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Must be certified through ACE, ACSM, or other approved nationally accredited organization
    • Minimum of two years supervisory experience in a health facility setting
    • Valid CPR Certification
    • Valid Standard First Aid Certification
    • Must have excellent oral communication skills to work positively with different populations, in groups and individually.
    • Must be well-organized, efficient, and able to handle a variety of duties simultaneously.
    • Effective leadership skills and strong work ethic.
    • Must be in excellent physical condition to carry out the needs of the position.
    • Must be able to think independently and develop programs for specific exercise and member/guests needs.
    • Must respect and protect guest/member privacy.
    • Must be able to build rapport with employees, members and guests.
    • Excellent customer service skills and work ethic.
    • Energetic, enthusiastic and motivational.
    • Professional manner, discretion, and appearance, adhering to Forbes Grooming Standards.
    • Excellent verbal and written skills.
    • Availability When Facility Is Open:  This could include nights, weekends, and holidays.
    • Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
    • This position requires the ability to climb, balance, kneel, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, and lift.
    • The employee will be required to operate the following tools: computer, calculator, fax machine, copier, medicine balls, resistance bands, free weights, bosu, jump ropes, steppers, cable assisted machines, calipers, additional fitness and tennis equipment
    • This position may require exposure to noise and mechanical hazards.
